Chalk up a big win for Sea Eagle Racing, the brainchild of Asheville lawyer Harold Seagle.

Equipped with a Porsche 911SC and lots of determination, Seagle, the driver, and navigator Stan Pendergraft of Charlotte recently grabbed first place in their racing class and a couple of trophies when they drove a week-long endurance race, the Targa Newfoundland Race/Rally, which included teams representing automakers from Canada, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Australia as well as the United States.

Running their Porsche through the 2,200-kilometer course across Newfoundland Sept. 8-16, the Sea Eagle team emerged with the Targa Plate, awarded for finishing all competition stages in under trophy time, and the Kenzie Cup, which they won in tandem with two other Porsche teams. Below, the Sea Eagle car, sponsored by Time Warner Cable, speeds along. At right, Seagle, right, and Pendergraft pose with the Porsche. Seagle, who operates Sea Eagle Racing, said Targa racers and their sponsors raised more than $50,000 for Easter Seals for the benefit of children throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
